Donnie and Gena Crain are the fourth-generation owners of the Hollis Country Store, carrying forward a family tradition that dates back to 1940. For them, this country store is more than just a business; it serves as a way to preserve and share the stories, traditions, and simple joys that define rural Arkansas traditions. Their shared passions focus on honoring local history, enjoying the beauty of Arkansas, and spending meaningful time together and with family - values that are woven into every Saturday at the store.
During the week, both Donnie and Gena serve in professional roles that reflect their commitment to community and place. Donnie is the President and CEO of the Morrilton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Conway County Economic Development Corporation, while Gena serves as Executive Director of the Oklahoma Ozarks Tourism Association.
So yes - the question they hear most often is true: the Hollis Country Store is only open on Saturdays. That’s because, as Donnie & Gena like to say, they spend the week working to support their “country store habit”… and to make sure they can fry bologna and talk bologna when the doors open!
But when Saturday comes, Donnie and Gena are all in - welcoming guests, sharing stories, and continuing a legacy of genuine, downhome hospitality!
